    The one-year Columbia MS in Human Nutrition is a three-semester program (fall, spring, summer) that combines rigorous coursework with thesis research in basic nutrition science, clinical nutrition, or public health nutrition. Our graduates are prepared for medical school as well as a broad range of careers across today’s healthcare landscape.     Join us for the next Institute of Human Nutrition Seminar, featuring Paul Cohen, MD, PhD, Albert Resnick, M.D. Associate Professor and Senior Attending Physician at The Rockefeller University. Dr. Cohen will present a talk titled “Brown Fat and Cardiometabolic Health: From Human Cohorts to Molecular Mechanisms,” exploring the role of brown adipose tissue in metabolic regulation and its potential to influence cardiometabolic disease risk. This seminar will highlight recent findings from human studies and mechanistic insights from laboratory models, offering a comprehensive view of how brown fat impacts health and disease.     The 26th Annual Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN) Academic Retreat and Wu Lecture will feature Silvia Corvera, MD, Director of the Clinical Translational Research Pathway and Professor in the Program in Molecular Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. The retreat brings together students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and alumni to share research, celebrate academic achievements, and strengthen connections within the IHN community. Awards presented include the Marija Chouinard Award for Outstanding Research Presentation, the Bernard F. Erlanger Award for Excellence in Research, and the IHN Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award. This two-day celebration brings together students, alumni, and faculty to share research, reconnect, and celebrate the IHN community. April 10, 2026, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Immediately following the retreat, join us for a Career Panel and Networking Reception to hear career updates from fellow alumni and connect with peers over refreshments.
