I love what I do – I create smiles and keep people healthy. Our oral and systemic wellness is largely mediated by our diet and as such, nutrition is an integral part of my daily practice. Whether we are talking about coffee stain, tooth erosion, or managing the effects of diabetes, each of these conversations begins with the foundation the Institute of Human Nutrition has provided me.

Is there a memory that stands out from your time at IHN?

The institute hosted a gathering that featured multicultural cuisine from our class.  It was wonderful to experience foods from so many different backgrounds - as a group we truly spanned the globe.  

What brought you to your profession?

In many ways Institute of Human Nutrition brought me to my profession.  Through my thesis project I collaborated with leaders in fields of dentistry and behavioral health to launch a project rooted in nutrition.  These disciplines are all closely aligned, and led me to a degree in dental medicine.   My love of scholarship, research, and mentorship from the Institute also inspired me to consider a career in academia where I am proud to serve today.
