Yiping Han elected to the American Academy of Microbiology of the American Society for Microbiology
Yiping W. Han, PhD, a member of Columbia’s Institute of Human Nutrition, has been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, part of the American Society for Microbiology. The Academy recognizes scientists whose work has made outstanding contributions to microbiology.
Dr. Han is internationally recognized for her research on host-pathogen interactions and the role of oral bacteria in systemic disease, including adverse pregnancy outcomes and gastrointestinal cancers. Her Columbia profile highlights her leadership in microbiology research and notes that she coined the term “mobile microbiome.”
