Brooke Aggarwal Elected Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine

The Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition congratulates Brooke Aggarwal, EdD, MS, FAHA, on her election as a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine in 2022.

Dr. Aggarwal was one of four faculty members from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons elected to the Academy that year.

About the New York Academy of Medicine Fellowship

New York Academy of Medicine Fellows include leading practitioners, academics, researchers, and policymakers who are elected by their peers. Fellows contribute to workgroups addressing clinical and population health issues affecting communities in New York City and around the world.

Election to the Academy recognizes professional achievement and carries a responsibility to help advance its mission of improving health.

Bringing Research Expertise Into the IHN Classroom

Dr. Aggarwal is a behavioral scientist and clinical health education specialist whose research examines how sleep, lifestyle, and psychosocial factors affect cardiovascular health, particularly among women.

She has taught in Columbia’s MS in Human Nutrition program since 2019 and serves as Co-Course Director of Integrative Nutrition and Pathophysiology. Through the MS in Human Nutrition curriculum, students learn from faculty whose research helps connect nutrition science with chronic disease prevention, clinical care, and public health.

Dr. Aggarwal’s election reflects the expertise and leadership that IHN faculty bring to both their research and the education of future nutrition and health professionals.
