International Work in Armenia
IHN faculty participated in the second international conference on nutrition in Armenia in June 2016. “Nutrition Today Matters Tomorrow” came about from a collaboration between IHN and the American University of Armenia’s School of Public Health. The meeting focused on identifying nutritional deficiencies and developing practical, available, and affordable solutions. Topics included:
- Overview of micronutrients and the cost of deficiency
- Vital roles of calcium and vitamin D
- The importance of growth monitoring for early identification and treatment for stunting and obesity
- Common nutritional deficiencies affecting armenia and how to fulfill these with local foods at a reasonable cost
